‘No day is the same, that's what I like most about this role.’

The dynamics of transport and logistics, the international working environment and the constant search for the best solution: that is where Martijn Vosmer feels at home. Since April 2024, he has been working as Logistics Team Lead at our Connected Services business unit, where he operationally manages the team of Account Managers. Martijn: ‘No day is the same, that's what I like most about this role.’

Martijn has a lot of experience within logistics before starting at Farm Trans; prior to this role he was Team Lead Customer Service and Project Engineer. Martijn: ‘As Project Engineer, I was implementing a new Transport Management System. I missed the daily dynamics of operations within logistics.’ In his current position, he combines his experience in IT and his passion for logistics. Martijn: ‘Besides the operational management of the team, I also help with the further development of systems such as Slot Scheduling and Control Tower. These are systems we use to optimally manage our customers' shipments.’

Although there are no standard working days, Martijn still paints a picture of a working day as Logistics Team Lead: ‘Most days I am, partly, operationally busy. This includes supervising new and current team members. We also consult a lot, both internally with the team and externally with customers and partners. For the further development of our systems, I am also in close contact with IT parties to flesh this out.’

Preparing reports and onboarding new customers are also part of Martijn's job: ‘Every week I prepare performance reports for our customers, which show whether we delivered shipments on time and in full. Of course, we measure and report on many more topics. When onboarding new customers, I gather a lot of information to find out their wishes and needs. I then liaise with our IT partner to see how we can set up our systems in the most appropriate way.’

Martijn's motto? He says: ‘First time right, in other words: from the first contact, we have to get it right the first time. That may, for example, be about the implementation of a new customer. It can also be about an individual shipment, which we also want to process correctly right away. That is really the common thread and aspiration for our business unit in all areas.’

Martijn also talks about the best thing about his job: ‘I like the international environment best. That combined with my role, ensures that I wear different hats. One moment I am a principal towards a carrier and the next moment I am in contact with one of our customers. The diversity in this makes my job very varied.’
